This will appeal to die-hard 70’s Prog aficionados that go for the more self-indulgent, fantasy based stuff that early GENESIS & MARILLION were made of!

Skies Darken’ was CITIZEN Cain’s first new release in ten years, and was it worth the wait? Well, YES!
It follows five critically acclaimed studio albums: ‘Serpent In Camouflage’ (1993), ‘Somewhere But Yesterday’ (1994), ‘Ghost Dance’ (early demos - 1996), ‘Raising The Stones’ (1997) and ‘Playing Dead’ (2002). All of the band's back catalogue has been Remastered and is released individually in early June 2013 (see details below).

When CITIZEN CAIN first arrived on the scene they modelled themselves on MARILLION, and while there must still be traces of early MARILLION within the depths of this new music, you will be hard pressed to hear any resemblance of it on the surface.
Having listened to ‘Skies Darken’ right through once there is one hell of a lot to take in. It is very much a storytelling Prog epic from the trio of Cyrus, Stewart Bell and Phil Allen. Lyrically it is dark, musically the arrangements can be sombre, often complex (in a similar fashion to YES) and grandiose at times, and to be honest it will need several listening sessions to really get to grips with it, but you can tell from the outset that this is an album that sounds like some form of life-work that has obviously been thoughtfully constructed, well played and performed with a fine production to boot. All the sounds you would expect are here and more, with subtle new touches that help create the often dark, eerie atmospheres that form part of the tale being told.
